A new interline agreement has been established between LIAT 2020 and Air Caraïbes, aimed at significantly enhancing travel connectivity between the Caribbean region and Europe. The partnership, which officially commenced on Monday, June 1, 2026, was announced on Friday, May 29, 2026.
Bridging Islands and Continents
This strategic initiative is designed to streamline travel for passengers, making journeys across the Caribbean and onward to Europe more accessible. The agreement connects key Eastern Caribbean islands, including Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, and Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport, with Air Caraïbes’ regional services to destinations such as Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guiana.
Travelers will benefit from the convenience of purchasing a single ticket for their entire journey through travel agents and global distribution systems. This collaboration is expected to foster deeper ties between the Caribbean and Europe by improving regional connectivity and facilitating multi-island travel.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
The partnership offers tangible advantages for tourists planning trips that involve flights from both carriers. Passengers will no longer need to purchase separate tickets, and the process of transferring between airlines will be simplified. This includes the convenience of not having to re-check luggage and avoiding additional baggage fees when connecting between LIAT 2020 and Air Caraïbes flights.
Leadership Perspectives
Hafsah Abdulsalam, the CEO of LIAT(2020), expressed optimism about the agreement’s potential. “By linking our networks with Air Caraïbes, we are making it significantly easier to move between English, French and Dutch speaking Caribbean, and to connect from any of our island destinations onward to Europe through Paris,” Abdulsalam stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Hugues Heddebault, Director of Air Caraïbes, outlined the vision behind the collaboration. “Our ambition is simple to bring territories closer together and make travel smoother for those who live, work, or travel across the region,” Heddebault remarked.
The new interline agreement is already in effect, promising a more integrated and user-friendly travel experience for those navigating the Caribbean and connecting to European destinations.
