Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited the University of Ghana to advance educational opportunities for St Kitts and Nevis residents. The engagement with university leaders focuses on strengthening academic cooperation between the Caribbean and Africa.

Strategic Regional Connections

Officials emphasize the need for ongoing collaboration between the two regions to enhance people-to-people ties. Held on Wednesday, the meeting gathered key stakeholders from the University of Ghana, including Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and her team. Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, also attended.

Key Discussion Areas

Participants addressed partnerships in higher education, research, cultural studies, and youth exchanges. This initiative builds on a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between St Kitts and Nevis’ Ministry of Education and the University of Ghana.

St Kitts and Nevis students now have access to tertiary education in Ghana. Dr. Drew stressed education’s role as a foundation for national development, noting the collaboration’s vast potential.

Historical and Cultural Impact

“Education remains a top priority for St Kitts and Nevis, where our people—through their intellect, creativity, and drive—represent our greatest asset,” Dr. Drew stated. The MoU fosters deeper historical and cultural bonds, enabling students and researchers from both nations to collaborate and share knowledge.
