St Kitts and Nevis and Ghana have signed a visa exemption agreement that extends visa-free travel to holders of ordinary passports. This development enhances travel access between the two nations.

Key Discussions and Signing

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St Kitts and Nevis and President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana held talks on vital areas of bilateral cooperation. The leaders signed the agreement at Jubilee House in Accra on March 4, 2026.

The new pact replaces a 2018 deal limited to diplomatic and service passport holders. Officials highlight this expansion as essential for strengthening ties between the Caribbean nation and West African country.

Bilateral Labour Agreement

In parallel, the nations inked a labour mobility deal. St Kitts and Nevis will streamline recruitment of Ghanaian doctors and medical professionals to bolster its healthcare sector.

Ghana commits to providing skilled workers, including nurses, teachers, and technical experts, under reciprocal arrangements.

President Mahama’s Remarks

President Mahama described the visa waiver as a “practical and transformative step.” He noted it will foster stronger relations, boost tourism, enable smoother business exchanges, and promote people-to-people connections.

A statement from the President’s office confirms the extension of the 2018 visa waiver to ordinary passport holders, promoting freer movement between the countries.
