LIAT Air, the Antigua and Barbuda-based regional carrier, has introduced a new direct flight route from Antigua to Guadeloupe, enhancing connectivity across the Caribbean. The inaugural flight touched down in Guadeloupe on April 8, 2026, completing the journey in just 20 minutes.

Inaugural Flight Details

The flight departed from VC Bird International Airport in Antigua around 8 a.m. on a Friday morning. It carried a high-level delegation including LIAT Air Chief Executive Officer Hafsah Abdulsalam, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism Michael Freeland, Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer Colin James, Director of Tourism for Caribbean and Latin America Charmaine Spencer, United Kingdom High Commissioner John Hamilton, media representatives, and other stakeholders.

Warm Welcome in Guadeloupe

Upon arrival at Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport, Guadeloupe tourism officials greeted the flight with a traditional water salute, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The welcoming events concluded with a short cultural program showcasing local traditions.

Ongoing Operations and Regional Impact

LIAT Air now operates this route twice weekly, enabling smoother travel between the two nations. This development strengthens intra-Caribbean links, supports the tourism and aviation sectors, and reinforces Antigua and Barbuda’s role as a key regional travel hub. Travelers and industry experts welcome the improved access and opportunities for economic growth.
