Authorities have confirmed the recovery of the body of a Chinese national, identified as Wang Zyuan, who had been reported missing on Mount Liamuiga. The discovery followed an extensive six-day search operation in the popular trekking area of St. Kitts.

Multi-Agency Search Effort

Wang Zyuan was last seen on the Mount Liamuiga trail on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was located deceased on Monday, June 1, 2026, by a search team. An official police statement confirmed the development on Monday.

The search effort involved a broad coalition of community volunteers and official agencies. Daily searches were conducted by teams comprising members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, the Police Training School, the Forest Unit, the Red Cross, and the Ross University K9 Unit.

Community Gratitude and Ongoing Investigation

In a statement, police expressed profound gratitude to all individuals who dedicated their time and effort to the search operation. “We are profoundly grateful to every person who gave their time and effort to this operation,” the statement read.

While detailed information regarding the composition of the search party has been shared, further details about the search party are not yet available. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Wang Zyuan’s death are currently underway.

Condolences and Public Advisory

The police force has extended its sincere condolences to Mr. Wang’s family, friends, and associates during this difficult time. The public is urged to refrain from speculation and to rely solely on official sources for accurate information as the investigation progresses.
