Nevis has rolled out a comprehensive door-to-door recycling program across the entire island, effective May 5, 2026. The initiative, spearheaded by the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) in partnership with Taiwan ICDF, marks a key advancement in the island’s sustainability efforts.

Program Goals and Coverage

This community-driven project aims to integrate recycling into the daily routines of Nevis residents, making it simple and accessible for every household. All homes islandwide now fall under the program’s coverage, with officials urging residents to adhere to recycling guidelines for optimal results.

The NIA has ramped up educational campaigns to inform the public, positioning this launch as a pivotal step toward environmental growth and waste reduction.

Stakeholder Meeting and Logistics

Stakeholders convened a key meeting attended by representatives from the NIA, NSWMA, and Taiwan ICDF to celebrate the rollout. Joyce Chang, Project Manager at Taiwan ICDF, joined discussions to refine logistics and outline strategies for the coming year.

Participants highlighted the fully operational Recycling Facility, where bales of plastic, aluminum, and cardboard stand ready for processing, underscoring the success of collaborative efforts.
