Taipei Metropolis and Basseterre, the capital of Saint Kitts and Nevis, formally signed a Sister Metropolis Settlement on November 13. The settlement was concluded by Taipei Mayor Wayne Chiang and the Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan, H.E. Donya Francis, and witnessed by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew and Taipei Metropolis Council Speaker Tai Hsi-Chin.

Mayor Chiang remarked, “Our friendship spans 42 years, and this affiliation is an important milestone. We sit up for deepening cooperation and enhancing substantive ties in areas reminiscent of training, tradition, commerce, tourism, and sensible metropolis improvement.”

Prime Minister Drew expressed his hope that Basseterre and Taipei will improve exchanges in sensible governance, sustainable improvement, training, and tradition, and share greatest practices to advance mutual prosperity.

The Embassy famous that Taipei and Basseterre have maintained energetic exchanges lately, together with Taipei’s donation of fifty YouBikes in 2023 and Basseterre’s participation within the Taipei Lantern Competition for 3 consecutive years. The brand new Sister Metropolis relationship will additional strengthen sensible collaboration between the 2 cities and reinforce the longstanding friendship between Taiwan and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
