The St. Kitts Yacht Club is set to host its annual Summer Aquatic & Sail Camp, offering young individuals aged 5 to 16 a unique opportunity to engage with water sports and marine education. The camp, themed “Make Waves This Summer,” will run for two separate weeks in July 2026: from the 13th to the 17th and again from the 20th to the 24th. Sessions are scheduled daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the St. Kitts Yacht Club Centre in Anchorage, Frigate Bay.

Making Sailing Accessible and Fun

This initiative aims to broaden access to sailing and related aquatic activities for children across St. Kitts. The club emphasizes that the camp is designed not only for fun but also for the crucial development of young minds. By providing a structured yet engaging environment, the St. Kitts Yacht Club seeks to foster personal growth, build confidence, and encourage leadership qualities among participants.

Camp Activities and Educational Components

Participants can look forward to a diverse range of activities designed to be both exciting and educational. The curriculum includes:

  • Sailing instruction and practice
  • Adventure sails
  • Beach games and team-building exercises
  • Kayaking and paddleboarding
  • Swimming

Beyond the physical activities, the camp incorporates an educational segment focused on marine biology and ocean discovery. Professionals will guide children through interactive learning experiences, aiming to spark curiosity and understanding about the marine environment. This blend of recreation and education is intended to provide a well-rounded summer experience.

Safety and Supervision

Ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere is a top priority for the St. Kitts Yacht Club. All activities will be conducted under the watchful supervision of professional instructors. Furthermore, the club will provide all necessary equipment, including essential safety gear, for the duration of the camp. This provision aims to remove barriers to participation and ensure that all campers can engage fully and safely.

Registration and Fees

Interested parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children promptly, as spaces are limited. Registration is to be completed online via a provided G-form. The camp fee structure is as follows:

  • St. Kitts Yacht Club Members: EC$ 225 per week
  • Non-Members: EC$ 250 per week

Payment for the camp must also be made online. Instructions for payment, including a QR code, will be shared by the department through their official social media channels. Early registration is advised, as this presents a unique chance for children to acquire new skills, adapt to new environments, and foster personal development in a stimulating setting.

Fostering Skills and Confidence

Officials from the St. Kitts Yacht Club highlighted the broader benefits of the camp beyond immediate enjoyment. They expressed that the experience is crafted to help children learn new skills, enhance their confidence, develop leadership potential, and gain valuable experience in adjusting to new social settings. The combination of challenging activities, expert guidance, and a focus on personal growth aims to make the Summer Aquatic & Sail Camp a memorable and impactful event for all young participants.

The club views this camp as a vital part of its commitment to community engagement and youth development, offering a platform for children to explore the wonders of the sea while building essential life skills.
