St. Kitts is gearing up to host the prestigious 2026 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) U20 Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship. This significant regional event is set to take place from Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026, at the scenic St. Kitts Marriott Beach in Frigate Bay. The championship marks a key moment for youth beach volleyball in the Eastern Caribbean, bringing together top young talent from across the region.

Championship Details and Organization

The St. Kitts Amateur Volleyball Association (SKAVA) is spearheading the organization of this three-day tournament, working in close collaboration with the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA). NORCECA, the international governing body for volleyball in the region, plays a crucial role in organizing such championships, partnering with local associations to ensure their successful execution.

This year’s zonal championship will feature elite U20 men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams vying for the title. The competition will adhere strictly to the official FIVB Beach Volleyball Rules, ensuring a high standard of play and fair competition for all participants. The announcement regarding the championship was officially shared by SKAVA through their online platforms, generating excitement among volleyball enthusiasts and athletes alike.

Participating Nations and Teams

A total of 11 national teams are expected to compete in the 2026 ECVA U20 Championship, showcasing the growing reach and popularity of beach volleyball in the Eastern Caribbean. The participating nations include:

  • St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN)
  • Dominica (DMA)
  • Sint Eustatius (EUX)
  • Sint Maarten (SXM)
  • Antigua and Barbuda (ANT)
  • Anguilla (AGU)
  • Bermuda (BER)
  • Grenada (GRN)
  • St. Vincent and the Grenadines (VIN)
  • Saint Lucia (LCA)
  • Curacao (CUW)

The presence of these diverse teams highlights the collaborative spirit and competitive drive within the ECVA region, offering a platform for young athletes to test their skills on an international stage.

Educational Initiatives Alongside the Championship

Beyond the intense competition, the event will also serve as a significant development opportunity for coaches and players. SKAVA has organized an extensive “Education Week” that commenced on Monday, July 6th, also held at the St. Kitts Marriott Beach. This educational component underscores a commitment to the holistic growth of volleyball within the region.

The Education Week features a comprehensive program designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants. Key courses and forums include:

  • Beach Volleyball Coaches Course
  • National Referee Course
  • International Continental Referee Course
  • Training Camp & Athletes Development Forum

These initiatives are crucial for nurturing local talent, improving coaching standards, and ensuring a robust infrastructure for officiating, all of which are vital for the long-term development of beach volleyball in the Eastern Caribbean.

Collaborative Support for the Championship

The successful staging of the 2026 ECVA U20 Championship is made possible through the strong partnerships and support from various regional and international organizations. In addition to SKAVA and NORCECA, key contributors include:

  • Association of National Olympic Committees of the Eastern Caribbean States (ANOCES)
  • International Volleyball Federation (FIVB)
  • St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC)
  • Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA)

Glenn Quinlan, President of ECVA, expressed profound gratitude for the ongoing collaborative efforts. He stated, “ECVA is extremely grateful for the continuing support of ANOCES, the FIVB and the SKNOC.” This multilateral support system is instrumental in fostering the growth of volleyball and providing opportunities for young athletes across the Eastern Caribbean.

Conclusion

The 2026 ECVA U20 Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship in St. Kitts promises to be a thrilling display of athletic talent and a significant milestone for the development of beach volleyball in the region. The combination of high-level competition and valuable educational programs ensures that this event will leave a lasting positive impact on participating athletes, coaches, and the sport as a whole.
