Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, held talks with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley during the ceremonial opening of the Barbados Parliament after recent general elections.

Part of CARICOM Outreach Ahead of Summit

Dr. Drew’s visit aligns with his regional outreach to CARICOM heads of state in preparation for the 50th CARICOM Heads of Government Summit. He arrived in Barbados on Friday, engaged in discussions with PM Mottley, and attended the parliament opening ceremony.

Dr. Drew described the occasion as a significant day for Barbados. PM Mottley met with him shortly before the ceremony began.

Honoring Regional Bonds

Dr. Drew expressed honor at PM Mottley’s gesture, emphasizing it reflects the deep solidarity among Caribbean Community nations. Images from the meeting circulate on the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service’s social media.

He conveyed delight at participating in the event and satisfaction with the Caribbean’s enduring bonds of unity.

Commitment to Regional Leadership

During the visit, Dr. Drew reaffirmed St. Kitts and Nevis’s dedication to collaborative leadership across the region throughout his tenure as CARICOM Chairman. The engagement supports his initiative to meet all CARICOM leaders.

In the last three days, Dr. Drew conducted key meetings with the prime ministers of the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Barbados. Visits to Suriname and Guyana remain scheduled ahead of the upcoming CARICOM summit.
