St Kitts and Nevis has introduced the “Building a Safe Space at Home” animation and Mental Health Dialogue to bolster youth well-being. The launch occurred on March 12 at the CUNA Conference Centre, drawing leaders, educators, counsellors, parents, and students.

Event Overview and Support

The initiative falls under the Mental Health Service System Enhancement Project and receives backing from the Taiwan Technical Mission. This partnership aids efforts to prioritize mental health across the nation, particularly among young people.

Focus on Youth Challenges

Government officials emphasize creating supportive, understanding home environments. Discussions at the event addressed key youth struggles, including academic pressures, social media impacts, and ongoing effects from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attendees, including government representatives, civil society members, educators, and students, explored strategies to ensure young people feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Leadership Commitment

The Prime Minister attended and highlighted the event as a chance for national leaders to foster safer, more empathetic spaces for youth. This move positions St Kitts and Nevis at the forefront of addressing global youth mental health issues through collaborative international efforts.
