St. Kitts and Nevis Launches Historic Athletes’ Fee to Champion Athlete Advocacy

Basseterre, St. Kitts – The sporting group of St. Kitts and Nevis has taken a serious step towards athlete empowerment and illustration with the official launch of the St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) Athletes’ Fee, established in March 2025. This landmark transfer follows a two-day capacity-building seminar held on the Convention Heart of Alphonso E. Bridgewater Olympic Home.

The Fee will function an important voice for athletes of Member Nationwide Federations of the SKNOC, aiming to make sure their pursuits are represented within the decision-making processes of the SKNOC and affiliated sporting our bodies.

The SKNOC Athletes’ Fee is comprised of:

Chairman: St. Clair Hodge
Vice-Chair: Genelle Lake
Basic Secretary: Shawn Seabrookes
Public Relations Officer: Shenel Crooke
Member: Jason Rogers
Ex-Officio: Virgil Hodge

The seminar that preceded the election of the Fee was facilitated by Mrs Hazel Beckles, a revered Grenadian Olympian and educator. Mrs. Beckles guided members by the aim, capabilities, and finest practices of Athletes’ Commissions, whereas emphasizing the significance of making sturdy rules and rules to assist sustainable advocacy.

Chairman Hodge expressed his enthusiasm concerning the institution of the Fee.

“We’re honoured to function the primary elected members of the SKNOC Athletes’ Fee. This can be a long-overdue step that enables athletes to immediately affect the insurance policies that have an effect on them. Our group is dedicated to championing their wants and fostering stronger connections inside the nationwide and worldwide sporting panorama,” he said.

The Fee will work carefully with the SKNOC, regional companions, and worldwide stakeholders to make sure athletes’ issues, rights, and alternatives are prioritized.

The mission of the SKNOC Athletes’ Fee is to characterize the views of the athletes and make their voice heard inside the SKNOC. The SKNOC welcomes this new chapter in its organizational improvement and appears ahead to the significant work forward.

The preliminary assembly and election train had been supported by Member Nationwide Federations athletes who participated in multi-sporting Video games held during the last eight (8) years underneath the auspices of the SKNOC.
