The foundation for modern seaport operations was laid with the construction of the Basseterre Deep Water Harbour/Cargo Port (Bird Rock) in 1980. This facility was later enhanced with the addition of a Transit Shed in 1985, designed for the efficient receipt and storage of cargo. Further administrative development occurred with the construction of a new Administrative Building in 1990, preparing the groundwork for the integrated authority that would soon follow.
Airport Evolution
The Golden Rock Airport, which would later fall under SCASPA’s purview, also underwent significant development. Following the establishment of SCASPA, the airport was officially renamed The Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport, honoring a prominent national figure and solidifying its status as the primary international gateway for St. Kitts and Nevis.
