Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited key landmarks during his four-day trip to Ghana, paying tribute to national heroes and reinforcing ties between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the African diaspora.

Wreath-Laying at W.E.B. Du Bois Centre

Dr. Drew laid a wreath at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan African Culture on March 5. The visit highlighted the shared cultural bonds across nations.

Reflection at Cape Coast Castle

On the same day, the Prime Minister toured Cape Coast Castle in Ghana’s Central Region. This 17th-century fortress, constructed in 1653, served as a major hub in the transatlantic slave trade, holding enslaved Africans before their journey across the Atlantic.

Today, the UNESCO World Heritage Site stands as a stark reminder of a tragic era that continues to influence Caribbean identity, culture, and heritage. The guided tour allowed Dr. Drew and his delegation to contemplate these profound historical connections.

Dr. Drew shared photos from both sites on social media, expressing honor in exploring Ghana’s history and the enduring links between the nations.
