Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St. Kitts and Nevis presented cheques totaling EC$15,000 to the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation and the Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Support Group.

Donation Origin and Announcement

The funds originate from proceeds of the Prime Minister’s New Year Gala 2026, held on January 4. Dr. Drew announced the donation during a press conference on February 17, 2026, and met with representatives from both organizations later that day to hand over the cheques.

Government’s Health Initiative

This contribution supports the administration’s ongoing efforts to combat breast cancer. As a former medical practitioner, Dr. Drew advocates for enhanced cancer prevention and support services across the islands. He emphasizes partnerships with stakeholders to ensure residents receive necessary care.

Impact of the Funds

The donation aids individuals undergoing mammography, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. It provides essential support services for both men and women affected by breast cancer. Dr. Drew commended the organizations for raising awareness and assisting patients and healthcare workers.

Such collaborations strengthen St. Kitts and Nevis’ healthcare sector, reflecting the government’s commitment to health, compassion, and community welfare.
