The Authorities and folks of the Federation of Saint Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis are united in profound sorrow on the passing of former Governor-Normal, His Excellency Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence GCMG OBE CSM JP.
 
Sir Edmund’s life was one marked by distinguished service to our nation. From his notable contributions to the sector of economics and enterprise, to his devoted stewardship as Governor-Normal, he embodied integrity, knowledge, and a fervent dedication to the development of our nation. His management, clear imaginative and prescient, humility and profound sense of obligation impressed generations of residents and have left an indelible mark on the material of our nation.
 
In honour of his immense contributions and in accordance with official authorities protocol, the Nationwide Flag of St. Kitts and Nevis can be flown at half-mast on all authorities buildings and official residences all through the Federation for a seven-day interval of nationwide mourning, commencing Monday September 8th, 2025, and once more on the day of his funeral or memorial service till sundown.
 
We prolong our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Girl Lawrence, the complete Lawrence household, and all who beloved and admired this distinctive man. As a nation, we pause to mirror on the immeasurable legacy of a beloved son of the soil who served with distinction and beauty, forsaking a timeless document of excellence and patriotism.
 
Could his soul relaxation in everlasting peace and will his household discover solace within the immense outpouring of affection and respect from a grateful nation.
