OECS Marks 45 Years with Region-Wide Changemaker Drive
The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) recently commemorated its 45th anniversary on June 18, 2026. To honor this significant milestone, a region-wide campaign has been initiated, inviting member states to actively engage in various OECS programs and initiatives. Titled the “OECS 45 for 45 Changemaker Initiative,” the month-long campaign throughout June is designed to foster meaningful action and boost community involvement across the Caribbean.

Reports indicate that the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has been a participant in this initiative, with diverse government departments spearheading a range of activities. A notable event was the observance of OECS Colours Day. During this day, employees and officials donned the official colors of the OECS – green, white, navy blue, and yellow – in a visible demonstration of support and celebration for the organization’s 45 years of service.

“One Vision, One Voice” Theme Guides Anniversary Events
The OECS launched its anniversary celebrations under the overarching theme, “One Vision, One Voice: Navigating Challenges, Shaping Our Future.” The organization has planned a comprehensive schedule of events to mark its 45th anniversary. These activities include a Contingent Rights Webinar, a Thanksgiving Service, a Billboard Unveiling Ceremony, a Staff Tree-Planting Activity, a Public Servants Sensitisation Session, and the Geneva Mission Anniversary Ceremony.
The organization also shared highlights from the OECS Colours Day, which took place across the region, via its official social media channels. This initiative serves to underscore the OECS’s 45-year dedication to strengthening regional integration.
Call for Broad Participation in Changemaker Initiative
The OECS has extended an invitation for individuals, including youth, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and community groups, to actively participate in the OECS 45 for 45 Changemaker initiative. The campaign aims to celebrate four and a half decades of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, emphasizing numerous years of unity, regional integration, and shared development through measures such as volunteerism and community-driven projects.
