St. Kitts and Nevis wrapped up its first Inter-Island Primary School Athletic Championship on May 3, 2026, at the Nevis Athletic Stadium. Top young athletes from both islands competed, establishing a fresh platform to showcase emerging talent across the federation.
Championship Results
Team Nevis claimed overall victory with 19 gold medals, 14 silver, and 10 bronze. Team St. Kitts delivered a strong showing, earning 15 gold, 20 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
Individual Standouts
Athletes from both islands excelled in individual events. Rone Isles of Nevis secured the Victrix Ludorum title with 30 points, while Calvert Gift of St. Kitts took the Victor Ludorum honor with the same score.
Minister’s Praise and Outlook
Nevis Island Administration Minister of Sports, Troy Liburd, commended the organizers, Ministries of Education and Sports, St. Kitts and Nevis Athletics, coaches, parents, and athletes for their roles in the event’s success.
Liburd emphasized the championship’s value as a developmental hub for youth. “The competition between the islands is both healthy and meaningful, offering our young people an opportunity to build friendships and mutual respect through sport. Bringing together the best of St. Kitts and the best of Nevis can only serve to strengthen our federal bonds,” he stated.
He extended special congratulations to Team Nevis: “I also wish to extend special congratulations to Team Nevis. I am immensely proud of their determination and the spirit with which they competed to secure victory.”
Liburd noted that the inaugural event exceeded expectations and expressed hope that it becomes a staple on the federation’s sporting calendar, fostering inter-island rivalry and growth for young athletes.
