The Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) 2026 mission has wrapped up in St. Kitts and Nevis, delivering essential healthcare to more than 3,500 patients over two weeks. U.S. Air Forces Southern partnered with the local government to provide services across the federation, including Nevis.

Mission Highlights

The team conducted over 2,000 medical, dental, and surgical procedures while visiting multiple locations. A closing ceremony marked the end of the initiative on March 6. Medical professionals from various specialties—such as surgery, dentistry, audiology, biomedical equipment maintenance, and nutrition—collaborated with local providers to share expertise and enhance clinical practices.

Strengthening Healthcare Ties

Dr. Shelisa Martin-Clarke, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health for the Nevis Island Administration, highlighted the mission’s impact. “This collaboration has allowed our healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, strengthen clinical skills, and work side by side in service of our people,” she stated.

The ongoing partnership between the United States and St. Kitts and Nevis bolsters healthcare delivery and professional relationships. Such missions offer real-world training for military medical teams, helping them adapt to diverse environments and prepare for global crises.
