Jermaine “Chubby” Clarke, lead singer of the Kollision Band, died after being shot multiple times in his vehicle early Sunday morning, April 5, 2026. The popular musician had just finished a performance in Keys when the attack occurred, leaving fans and the creative community reeling from the tragedy.

Minister’s Tribute Highlights Clarke’s Impact

Minister of Creative Economy Samal Duggins issued a statement confirming Clarke’s death. “Clarke was not just an artist but much more,” Duggins said. “His spirit, presence, and voice brought joy, energy, and connection to so many people of the island nation.”

Officials note Clarke’s major contributions to the nation’s creative sector. His music elevated the Federation’s unique sound across the region and parts of the world, playing a key role in its promotion and development.

Outpouring of Grief from Fans and Peers

Condolences flood in from fans, family, friends, and fellow Kollision Band members, all stunned by the loss. The local entertainment industry remembers Clarke for his infectious energy, raw talent, and commanding stage presence.

Police Investigation Underway

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force investigates the shooting. Clarke was with a female companion in the vehicle at the time; she escaped gunshot wounds but sustained other injuries and receives treatment at JNF General Hospital.

Authorities urge community members to provide any information to aid the probe.
