Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School Celebrates Athletic Excellence at Inaugural Gala

In a significant initiative to recognize the dedication and hard work of its student-athletes, Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School recently hosted its first-ever Athletes’ Appreciation Gala. The event, held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the St. Paul’s Community Centre, aimed to honor and celebrate the outstanding achievements, commitment, excellence, and sportsmanship displayed by the school’s young athletes throughout the year. The gala was held under the theme “Blue Dynasty: Legacy of Champions.”

Distinguished Guests and Commendations

The esteemed Dr. Denzil L. Douglas was in attendance, lending his support to the school’s groundbreaking event. He personally acknowledged the athletes’ rigorous training, discipline, and commendable performances. Dr. Douglas extended his congratulations to all participants and awardees, expressing his gratitude to the school’s principal, staff, and coaches for their unwavering support and dedication to youth development.

“Congratulations to all the awardees and participants,” Dr. Douglas stated. “Your accomplishments both on and off the field are a source of pride and inspiration to the entire school community.”

Celebrating the Wolf Nation’s Stars

Information shared on the school’s official social media page highlighted the athletes’ exceptional performances across various disciplines, including Netball, Football (U14 and U20), and Track and Field. The post emphasized that these student-athletes represented the “Wolf Nation” with immense passion, pride, discipline, and excellence, proudly carrying the school’s colors with distinction.

The school also took the opportunity to acknowledge the continuous support provided by Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas towards educational initiatives and the development of young people.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Lisa Pistana, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education; Chief Education Officer, Francil Morris; and Education Officer, Boris Connor. The school administration expressed its sincere appreciation to these guests for gracing the occasion with their presence.

Dr. Denzil Douglas Secondary School extended its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the gala.
