The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is hosting its second annual Generative AI and Python Summer Camp in 2026, with significant support from the Republic of China (Taiwan). This initiative aims to enhance the digital capabilities of young participants by providing training in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and Python programming. The camp, sponsored by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), represents a continued commitment by Taiwan to foster technological advancement and digital transformation within the region.
Taiwan’s Commitment to Regional Digital Development
Officials from the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) recently visited the summer camp to observe the progress and reaffirm their support. Ken-Chuan Yang, Deputy Counselor, and Christina Hsu, Third Secretary, represented the embassy, underscoring the importance Taiwan places on this collaborative educational endeavor. They were guided by ECCB representatives Karen Williams, Director of Projects and Technical Assistance, and Sybil Welsh, Senior Project Specialist, who provided insights into the camp’s objectives and achievements.
During the visit, Sybil Welsh expressed gratitude to Taiwan for its ongoing sponsorship, highlighting its crucial role in the camp’s success. “This sponsorship is very important and essential for this project,” Welsh stated, emphasizing the tangible benefits for the participants and the broader community.
