Residents of Constituency #4 on St. Christopher are being called upon to participate in a community beautification drive aimed at cleaning and enhancing local public spaces. The initiative, spearheaded by Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources Samal Duggins, will focus initially on the Challengers Hard Court area.

Community Beautification Drive Announced

The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, commencing at 7:00 AM. Minister Duggins extended a personal invitation to all individuals, volunteer groups, and community organizations within Constituency #4 to contribute their time and effort. The goal is to revitalize the Challengers Hard Court, transforming it into a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for all users.

“I am inviting residents, volunteers, community groups and friends of Constituency #4 to lend a helping hand as we clean, refresh and enhance this important community space,” Minister Duggins stated. He emphasized that the collective efforts of the community are crucial for improving the local environment for current and future generations.

Fostering Community Pride Through Service

Minister Duggins highlighted the connection between community service and fostering a sense of local pride. He believes that dedicating even a few hours can significantly contribute to creating a more positive atmosphere. “Community pride is built through service. By giving a few hours of your time, you can help create a cleaner, safer and more welcoming environment for our children, families and everyone who uses this important space,” he remarked.

The Minister further elaborated on the types of contributions welcomed, noting that assistance with cleaning, painting, landscaping, or simply lending a hand would all be valuable. He stressed that even small contributions can lead to substantial positive outcomes.

Online Invitation and Call to Action

The announcement regarding the community beautification initiative was shared by Minister Duggins on his official social media platform. Accompanying the announcement was a brief message underscoring the spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility. “Let us work together in the spirit of service, community pride, and collective responsibility,” the message read.

Broader Beautification Efforts Underway

This upcoming event is part of a larger, ongoing commitment to neighborhood improvement. Earlier in July, the Department of Community Development, operating under the current administration, organized an anti-graffiti and neighborhood beautification campaign. This campaign saw activities taking place in the McKnight community of Basseterre.

Specific events within the McKnight campaign included clean-up and beautification efforts on Durant Avenue on July 7th and at Prickley Pear Alley on July 8th. These initiatives collectively demonstrate the administration’s and parliamentary representatives’ dedication to sustainable island development and the enhancement of the local environment.

Conclusion: A Call for Collective Action

The community beautification drive at Challengers Hard Court represents a tangible opportunity for residents of Constituency #4 to actively participate in improving their surroundings. By working together, the community aims to create a more aesthetically pleasing and functional public space, reinforcing the values of service, pride, and collective responsibility.
