Ferry Capsizes, Rescue Underway
The MV Barima was en route from Guyana’s capital, Georgetown, along the North Atlantic coast towards Port Kaituma when it capsized. A distress call was received by authorities at 11:01 p.m. local time (0301 GMT), triggering a multi-agency response. The capsizing happened near the Pomeroon River.
