New Campus Construction Nears Completion for January 2027 Semester

Plans are in motion to welcome students back to the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School for the January 2027 semester, following extensive reconstruction efforts. Updates on the project’s progress were shared recently by officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Infrastructure.

Project Timeline and Scope

Construction of the new campus commenced in 2025, aiming to replace the original building that was tragically destroyed by fire in March 2022. An arson incident during the night led to the complete loss of the previous structure, necessitating the relocation of students and the initiation of rebuilding plans.

Government representatives have confirmed that the reconstruction is proceeding at a satisfactory pace. This ambitious undertaking involves three distinct contractors working concurrently across three active construction sites, a unique approach for such a project.

A Modern Educational Facility

The newly designed campus is set to offer a significantly improved educational environment compared to the pre-fire building. Public works officials have revealed a state-of-the-art design intended to elevate the quality of education and enhance the experience for both students and staff.

The new structure will boast an impressive 25,500 square feet of space, more than tripling the 8,400 square feet of the original building. This expansion will provide teachers with a larger staff room, a dedicated dining area, and additional outdoor recreational spaces. Students can anticipate significantly larger classrooms, each over 1.5 times the size of those in the former building. Furthermore, the school will feature modern library facilities and well-equipped laboratories for scientific experimentation.

Anticipated Completion and Opening

Officials anticipate that the construction phase will conclude by late 2026, paving the way for the school’s official opening for the 2027 academic session.
