St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to Taiwan, Donya L. Francis, held a courtesy meeting with Director General Chen Chia-Chun of the Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau on April 10, 2026.
Discussions Center on Enhanced Exchanges
The diplomats explored opportunities to deepen cultural ties between Taichung and St. Kitts and Nevis. Key topics included potential participation by St. Kitts and Nevis artists in the Taichung Jazz Festival and the Taichung International Instrumental Festival, both scheduled for October.
Building on prior collaborations, St. Kitts and Nevis representatives joined last year’s Taiwan Instrumental Festival. Musician Stephen Richards performed and directed the Formosa Pandaz Steel Orchestra during the event.
Mutual Appreciation and Future Invitations
Ambassador Francis expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Taichung City Government and the Cultural Affairs Bureau for our exceptional partnership,” he stated. “I also thank Mayor Lu for the invitations extended to me over the years to attend the Taichung Jazz Festival. I look forward to attending again this year, particularly if our Kittitian and Nevisian band is featured.”
Director General Chen reciprocated the thanks, highlighting the ambassador’s consistent support for Taichung’s cultural programs. She noted his presence at the Jazz Festival and the embassy’s contribution of books to the Taichung Public Library.
Chen extended an invitation for Ambassador Francis to tour the newly opened Taichung Green Museumbrary, a prominent city landmark combining an art museum and public library within a large urban park.
Popular Book Donations
The embassy donated six books authored by St. Kitts and Nevis writers to the Taichung Public Library. Tseng Hui-chun reported that these books have gained popularity among visitors, especially children.
