St. Kitts and Nevis bolsters diplomatic ties with Panama as Ambassador Xiomara Perez officially presents her credentials to key leaders.
Credentials Ceremony at Government House
On March 25, 2026, Xiomara Perez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Panama, submitted her letters of credence to Governor-General Dame Marcella Liburd during a formal ceremony at Government House.
Governor-General Liburd extended a warm welcome and expressed eagerness to enhance cooperation between the two nations. She identified key areas for collaboration to create new opportunities for citizens.
Ambassador Perez reaffirmed her dedication to supporting St. Kitts and Nevis while pledging to deepen bilateral relations.
Courtesy Call with Acting Prime Minister
Following the ceremony, Ambassador Perez paid a courtesy visit to Acting Prime Minister Geoffrey Hanley. The leaders discussed prospects for mutual cooperation.
Hanley described the encounter as an opportunity for “constructive dialogue,” emphasizing its significance.
Strengthening Long-Standing Ties
Governor-General Liburd highlighted the nations’ enduring partnership on her Facebook page. She noted that diplomatic relations between St. Kitts and Nevis and Panama began in 1992.
“This presentation of credentials signals our intention to strengthen our relations particularly in the context of Caribbean-Latin American cooperation,” Liburd stated.
Ambassador Perez, based in Barbados, serves as the first resident ambassador there.
