St. Kitts and Nevis athletes claimed two gold medals at the Barbados International Junior Tennis Tournament held at the Raymond Forde National Tennis Center.
Chezelle’s Birthday Triumph in Girls 12 & Under Division A
Twelve-year-old Chezelle celebrated her birthday with a gold medal victory in the Girls 12 & Under Division A. She defeated fellow St. Kitts player Cherika Flemming 4-2, 4-2 in the final. Chezelle remained undefeated throughout the tournament, dominating the round-robin stage against competitors from Antigua and St. Kitts and Nevis, and continuing her strong performance in the semifinals and final.
Alyella Dominates Mixed Gender 12 & Under Division B
Nine-year-old Alyella shone in the Mixed Gender 12 & Under Division B, facing all-male opponents from Grenada, Barbados, and Antigua across five matches. She secured gold with a 4-2, 4-2 win over Jerimiah York of Grenada in the final.
Both young stars, daughters of Minister Konris Maynard, demonstrate exceptional talent, discipline, and excellence on and off the court. Their undefeated runs have brought pride to the nation on the regional tennis stage.
Strong Performances from Other Team Members
The team showed depth with additional achievements:
- Tzuriel Percival earned runner-up positions in Boys 14 & Under Singles and Doubles.
- Shreya Rawat finished as runner-up in Girls 14 & Under Singles and Doubles.
- Zhajid Richards claimed the Boys 12 & Under Division A consolation title.
