Basseterre, Saint Kitts, July 03, 2025 (SKNIS): The Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Schooling, applauded the excellent achievements of scholars on the UNESCO Essay Competitors Announcement Ceremony held on Wednesday, July 02, 2025, on the NEMA Convention Room.

The competitors, hosted by the St. Kitts and Nevis Nationwide Fee for UNESCO and the UNESCO Routes of Enslaved Peoples Committee, was held underneath the theme: “The Significance and Worth of College students Being Taught Their African Ancestral Historical past.” Whereas celebrating the winners, Dr. Hanley additionally reaffirmed the Ministry of Schooling’s dedication to introducing a nationwide curriculum targeted on African ancestral historical past and the heritage of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

In a room stuffed with college students, educators, dad and mom, and nationwide dignitaries, he warmly congratulated the highest three winners: Markailer Handley (First Place), Khalaylah Maccabee (Second Place), and Devine James (Third Place).

The schooling minister expressed deep appreciation to all who made the competitors a hit, together with the Governor-Basic of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Her Excellency, Dame Marcella Liburd, for lending nationwide prominence to the initiative; Ambassador Nerys Dockery and the UNESCO Routes of Enslaved Peoples Committee for his or her management; and the Curriculum Growth Unit for guiding the way in which ahead.
