St. Kitts Defence Force Strengthens U.S. Partnership
Major Kayode Sutton, Force Commander of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF), recently hosted Commander Steve Hulse, the outgoing Senior Military Liaison Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados. The visit took place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Camp Springfield.
Commander Hulse’s engagement marked his final official duty before transitioning his responsibilities. He was accompanied by Commander Morgan Fowler, who is set to succeed him as the next Senior Military Liaison Officer. This visit underscored the ongoing strategic partnership and close working relationship between the SKNDF and the United States of America.
Reaffirming Strategic Cooperation
During the meeting, officials from both organizations shared insights into upcoming collaborative projects. The SKNDF highlighted the engagement as a reaffirmation of their shared commitment. A statement from the SKNDF emphasized, “The meeting reaffirmed the enduring partnership and commitment between the SKNDF and the U.S. military.”
Discussions also centered on several key areas, including the advancement of joint cooperation and the strengthening of regional security. Furthermore, the parties explored strategies for enhancing capacity building through modern, tailored training programs. The objective is to bolster and maintain operational readiness across the Eastern Caribbean, with potential extensions into the Western Hemisphere.
Appreciation and Future Outlook
Major Kayode Sutton expressed his appreciation for Commander Steve Hulse’s dedicated service and support. He also extended a welcome to the incoming Senior Military Liaison Officer, Commander Morgan Fowler.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force conveyed its anticipation for continued collaboration with the United States. “We look forward to continued collaboration with the United States of America in advancing peace, security, and stability throughout the region,” a representative stated.
Sergeant Major Saint Clair Williams and Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) from the SKNDF were also present during the meeting, alongside Major Kayode Sutton.
