Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew of St. Kitts and Nevis has congratulated Prime Minister Gaston Browne on his re-election victory in Antigua and Barbuda.
Election Overview
Antigua and Barbuda held snap general elections on April 30, 2026, nearly two years ahead of the constitutional deadline following the 2023 polls. The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), led by Browne, secured a landslide win with 15 out of 17 seats in the General Assembly, marking their fourth consecutive term in power.
In the previous 2023 elections, the ABLP had clinched a narrow majority with nine seats. This time, the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) captured one seat, while the United Progressive Party (UPP) took the remaining one.
Drew’s Message of Support
Dr. Drew shared his congratulations via social media, expressing confidence in the ABLP’s leadership for the new term. He voiced eagerness to collaborate with Antigua and Barbuda’s government.
“I look forward to continuing our collaboration, and to strengthening our shared efforts through CARICOM, as we work together to build a more resilient, united and prosperous Caribbean,” Dr. Drew stated.
Leaders across the Caribbean have also extended congratulations to Prime Minister Browne and his team.
