St. Kitts and Nevis Minister of Education Geoffrey Hanley hosted an appreciation brunch at The Lagos in Half Moon Bay on Friday, April 10, 2026. The event celebrated the dedication and leadership of public school principals and deputy principals across the islands.

Minister’s Gratitude and Recognition

During the gathering, Minister Hanley described the brunch as a token of appreciation for the principals’ tireless efforts in leading educational institutions. He commended their commitment to fostering both academic success and personal growth among students nationwide.

“This gesture recognizes the strong leadership steering our schools forward,” Hanley stated. He emphasized their role in managing operations effectively amid evolving educational demands.

Gifts and Special Awards

In addition to heartfelt thanks, attendees received gift packages and laptops. These items aim to enhance administrative tasks and classroom teaching as the country advances toward modernized education practices.

Several educators earned individual honors for exemplary service. Dale Phipps stands out as the longest-serving male principal on St. Kitts, while Suzette Cannonier holds the distinction as the longest-serving female principal.

Commitment to Educators

The event highlights the Ministry of Education’s dedication to supporting school leaders throughout the Federation. Minister Hanley later shared highlights on social media, expressing delight at connecting with the principals and deputies to acknowledge their contributions.
