Sailors from St. Kitts and Nevis delivered standout performances at the Budget Marine 23rd ILCA and 8th Optimist Open Regatta, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s sailing community.

Top Finishes in Key Classes

Greyson Burrell secured first place in the Optimist Advanced fleet, representing the St. Kitts Yacht Club. The young sailor demonstrated consistency and skill against regional competitors.

Abhijith Srinivasan earned third place in the ILCA 4.7 class while competing for the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center. His podium finish represents a historic first for St. Kitts and Nevis in a regional ILCA event.

Sailing Association Celebrates Achievements

The St. Kitts and Nevis Sailing Association congratulated both athletes, hailing their results as historic for the islands. Officials credited local clubs, coaches, and families for supporting the sailors’ journeys.

The association also thanked the Antigua Yacht Club and Katrl James for organizing the successful regional events, noting the growing momentum of sailing in St. Kitts and Nevis.

These accomplishments are poised to inspire more youth to pursue the sport, boosting its development locally.
