Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew and Woman Drew visited Tainan Metropolis on November 14 and had been warmly greeted by Mayor Huang Wei-che together with officers of town authorities. Prime Minister Drew witnessed Mayor Huang and Ambassador Donya L. Francis signing a sister-city settlement between Basseterre and Tainan.
Mayor Huang expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for touring all the best way from Taipei to attend the twinning ceremony between Taiwan’s oldest metropolis – Tainan and the historic capital of St. Kitts and Nevis – Basseterre.
Prime Minister Drew praised Tainan’s wealthy heritage, noting that each cities protect historic forts and share cultural connections — even world-famous mangoes. He highlighted that many Kittitian and Nevisian college students examine in Tainan, particularly in engineering, gaining expertise and friendships that assist drive his nation’s growth.
The brand new sister-city ties mark the start of deeper cooperation in tradition, training, governance, and financial trade, opening a brand new chapter for friendship between Taiwan and Saint Kitts-Nevis.
