BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS AND NEVIS – The Authorities of Saint Kitts and Nevis right now confirms that the Journey Per Diem Coverage for Authorities Ministers, Everlasting Secretaries and different public officers stays unchanged since its institution in 2008 (Ministry of Finance Round No. 09/2008). This clarification addresses persistent false claims circulating within the public area.

The 2008 coverage continues to control all official journey expenditures:

  • Ministers of Authorities: Obtain a hard and fast allowance of US$100 (EC$270) per day, no matter vacation spot.
  • Everlasting Secretaries & Ambassadors: Obtain EC$350 per day for CARICOM journey and EC$425 per day for non-CARICOM journey.
  • Different Civil Servants: Obtain EC$300 per day (CARICOM) and EC$350 per day (non-CARICOM).

The coverage additional stipulates decreased charges for journey exceeding 14 days and prohibits per diems for absolutely sponsored journeys.

The Authorities notes with concern repeated allegations—together with the categorically false declare that ministers obtain US$1,000 each day—which misrepresent public expenditure. Such misinformation erodes belief and distorts factual discourse.

The general public is urged to confirm info via official channels (for instance, St. Kitts and Nevis Info Service (SKNIS), the Ministry of Finance, Legal professional Common’s Chambers or the Info Commissioner. Moreover, the general public can make the most of the Freedom of Info (Modification) Act, 2024 (No. 18 of 2024), which ensures public entry to information and unbiased oversight by the Info Commissioner.
