Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis – June 12, 2025 – On Wednesday 11 June 2025, Mr. Kiaeem Carty appeared earlier than His Lordship Justice Iain Morley KC on the Excessive Courtroom to be sentenced on the cost of armed theft. Mr. Carty had entered an early responsible plea beforehand and, having already served 1 yr, 9 months, and 20 days on remand, was sentenced to eleven (11) years’ imprisonment. By legislation, he’s eligible for remission of as much as one-third of the sentence for good behaviour, and the time already served shall be credited in direction of the sentence imposed.
This conviction stems from a theft that occurred on August 12, 2023, on the RAM’s Grocery store department in Camps. On that date, 4 armed and masked assailants entered the premises, forcibly obtained a big sum of money from workers and vault, and made their escape in a ready automobile.
A subsequent intelligence-led operation on the Timothy Seashore Lodge led to the detention of 5 males. Following additional investigations, Mr. Carty, 23, of New Highway, St. Kitts, was formally charged on August 21, 2023, with theft, illegal possession of a firearm, and use of a firearm with intent to hazard life. The opposite fees have been withdrawn.
The Excessive Command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Pressure acknowledges and commends the tireless efforts of the officers of the Prison Investigation Division and all officers concerned within the investigation and assisted in securing this conviction.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirms the Pressure’s dedication to the safety of the general public and the pursuit of justice in all felony issues.
