Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has extended congratulations to the government and people of the Commonwealth of Dominica on the country’s 48th anniversary of independence. The St. Kitts and Nevis leader shared his greetings through social media.
In his message, Dr Drew conveyed best wishes on behalf of the government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis as Dominica marked the occasion.
He also recognised Dominican nationals living and working in the federation, encouraging them to celebrate their homeland with pride. “I hope you fly your flag proudly today. You are our neighbours, our friends and our family, and we’re happy to share in your celebration,” the Prime Minister said.
Dr Drew expressed his hope that God would continue to bless Dominica and its people, wherever they reside. The country observed Independence Day on November 3, 2026, marking 48 years since gaining independence from British colonial rule in 1978.
As it approaches half a century of independence, Dominica has made progress in its development and strengthened its presence internationally.
This year’s independence celebrations were held under the theme “Our Journey, Our Legacy, Our Future.”
People across St. Kitts and Nevis also extended warm wishes to Dominica. The occasion highlighted the valued partnership between the neighbouring nations, which share historical roots.
Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, addressed the nation during the anniversary commemorations, reaffirming his commitment to building a stronger country.
The official observance was accompanied by a series of celebratory events held over the preceding weeks.
