Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, the Acting Prime Minister, was in attendance, alongside Konris Maynard, the Minister of Public Infrastructure, and Isalean Philip, the Minister of State responsible for Youth Empowerment. A mural titled “A World We Make” was unveiled on August 29, 2026, on Upper Market Street in Basseterre. This artwork visually represents the Earth cradled in human hands, encircled by the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the heart of the globe, the national symbols of St. Kitts and Nevis are depicted, including the nation’s flag and its national flower, the Poinciana. The mural serves as a powerful reminder of global interconnectedness and the shared responsibility in achieving sustainable development.
Ministerial Recognition of SKNYPA’s Contributions
Isalean Philip, Minister of State for Youth Empowerment, lauded SKNYPA’s initiative in creating the “A World We Make” mural. Minister Philip specifically commended the artwork for its prominent display of the UN SDGs, emphasizing their relevance to St. Kitts and Nevis’s own Sustainable Island State Agenda.
